Cesenatico Skyscraper
Home > Emilia-Romagna > Forli'-Cesena > Cesenatico > Cesenatico Skyscraper
Since 1958, the Cesenatico skyscraper, close to the coastline, overlooks the tourists that relax on the beach during the day and who take walks during the evenings. Nicknamed by some the "EcoMonster", the skyscraper has become a reference point for the inhabitants and the tourists in Cesenatico, so much so that it has been defined the North Star of this renowned seaside resort.
The very high building was constructed after the war and presents the typical architectural style of that period. Those were the years of the economic and tourist boom for Italy and for Cesenatico, and the construction of the skyscraper, designed by Eugenio Berardi, still remains the symbol and the memory of that flourishing period.
The skyscraper has 35 floors and is more than 115 metres high, a height which, in the past, made it the highest building in Europe. Nowadays, the Cesenatico skyscraper remains one of the highest reinforced concrete buildings in our country.
In recent years, as well as the aesthetic worries, there were serious concerns regarding the safety of the building. Following these concerns, long building works have been carried out so as to consolidate the bearing structure of the skyscraper and its facade.
As this is a very well known tourist resort, as the number of hotels testifies, the skyscraper also hosts many services dedicated to tourists. The ground floor of the building is, in fact, dedicated to various commercial activities whose business rockets during the Summer months.
