Church of Santa TrinitÃ
Home > Tuscany > Florence > Florence > Church of Santa TrinitÃ
The Church of Santa Trinità was built between 1258 and 1280 but founded by San Giovanni Gualberto in 1092 as the Church of the "Vallombrosiani" (nowadays called Chiesa Valdese).
Over the centuries the Church has undergone various modifications. It has been enriched by fresco's by Ghirlandaio and by various Chapels which host the tombs of the Lords who governed Florence.
Luca della Robbia sculpted a bass-relief, one of his most prestigious works, for the tomb of the then Bishop of Fiesole.
The inside has also been restored more than once: it has gone from the original Gothic style to the Baroque style as can be seen from the facade, the Presbitery, and the convent which were restored in 1593.
