Church of Santa Maria Nuova

Next to the evocative Church of Santa Maria Antica, in the famous skiing resort of madonna di Campiglio, one finds the Church of Santa Maria Nuova, essentially constructed so as to host the numerous tourists of the town.

As the name suggests, it is a modern Church with respect to its older sister Church: it was, in fact, designed and constructed between 1970 and 1972 by Architect Marcello Armani, who has put his signature on amy important buildings in the Trento area. The Church was built using wood and granite and its facade, just like the wall, seems to recall the irregular profile of the mountains that surround the town of Madonna di Campiglio.

The inside of the Church presents some particularities: the space reserved to visitors is of a circular shape, inclined towards the alter, as if it wishes to accentuate the welcoming of the faithful in prayer around the priest and God.
