Hofer Hall

The Hofer Hall is inside the prestigious Grand Hotel Des Alpes in the centre of Madonna di Campiglio, renowned tourist locality in the Trentino Alto Adige Region.

The hall takes its name from the artist Gottfried Hofer, the artist that painted the internal walls of the hall at the end of the 19th century. The work was commissioned in 1897 by Franz Joseph Osterreicher who bought the "Stabilimento Alpino" in Madonna di Campiglio and transformed it inot the hotel "Des Alpes" and, at that time, the hall was the enormous dining room.

Nowadays, the Hofer Hall is a conference room that can seat upo to 400 people; it also hosts exhibitions and one of these regarded the artist who gave his name to the hall. The decorations created by Hofer for the walls of the hall were realised between 1897 and 1898. They mainly portray themes relating to classical mythology.

Thanks to its particularities, the Hofer Hall is considered a cultural asset of great historical and artistic value and, in 2004, was officially recognised by the Department of Architectural Assets of the Province of Trento-

Close to the Hofer Hall it is possible to stay in one of the numerous hotels in and around Madonna di Campiglio, a town which abounds in hotels and apartments especially during the skiing season. Like aforementioned, the prestigious Hofer Hall is inside the Hotel Des Alpes, easily reached from every part of the town as it is situated in the historical centre.
