Church of San Giovanni Battista

The Church of San Giovanni Battista is to be found in Rimini.

Its construction dates back to the tenth century and it firstly belonged to the Carmelites, and the to the Capuchin's. It was reconstructed according to a project by Gaetano Cupioli. Other artists have given their contribution, and they are: Antonio Trentanove with his Altare della Madonna del Carmine, in front of which there is an innovative work by the Bologna born artist Giuseppe Mazza.

The church also hosts some prestigious paintings: Santi Carmelitani by Guido Cagnacci; La Predica del Battista by Andrea Boscoli, La Trinità e i Santi Prottetori di Rimini by Father Cosimo Piazza.

In 1960 the building underwent other work which enriched the polychrome with marble and picturesque designs.
