Church of Sant'Agostino

The Church of Sant'Agostino is situated in the historical centre of Rimini.

It was built around the XIII century. In Gothic style are the flanks, the apse, and the high belfry. It used to host the important opera by the "Maestro dell'Argengo": Il Giudizio Universale, which was to be found in the room where the General Council used to meet. Presently the opera is to be found in the City Museum in via Tonini.

On the lower part of the belfry and in the apse there are some fresco's: those in the belfry tell the story of the "Vita della Vergine"; those in the apse are by the "Maestro dell'Areno", a very important artist.
