National Motorbike Museum
Home > Emilia-Romagna > Rimini > Rimini > National Motorbike Museum
The National Motorbike Museum was created in 1993 upon the initiative of the motorbike fans from Rimini and with their collections: Germano Corvatta, Giuseppe Savoretti, and Tino Zaghini.
Firstly in Cerasolo di Coriano, it was transferred to Rimini in 1996.
For a long time its address was in Via Casalecchio, however, in December 2003 it was transferred only 5 Km. away from its preceding address due to insufficient space.
The collection continues to grow in models: 60 Italian and foreign houses have contributed to the collection which numbers over 250 models that offer a vision on the evolution of this two-wheeled means of transport since the end of the 19th century to the present.
An enormous complex divided into four theme areas and composed of two buildings which have been rennovated and restored with a current and functional design. To name but a few brand names, there is the French house "Werner" (the first motorbike), the Italians "Frera", "Stucchi", and "Moto Guzzi" with post-war models, the English "Sunbeam", "Rudge", "Norton", and "Scott", and the American "Harley Davidson", "Indian", and "Henderson".
So as to restore these models in as faithfull a manner as possible, the authors have organised a library of those times with more than 10,000 original volumes which can be consulted.
When the history of motorbikes also tells stories regarding people, it becomes more intersting not only for fans but also for people who wish to enrich their knowledge and identify themselves "with the times" which can still teach us a lot.
