Porta Montanara
Home > Emilia-Romagna > Rimini > Rimini > Porta Montanara
Porta Montanara, also called Porta di Sant'Andrea, was the Western entrance to the city of Rimini. Its construction dates back to the first century a.C. Placed at the end of what is now via Garibaldi, it was made up of two arches which made getting in and out of the city of Ariminum easier as it organised traffic into two parallel lines.
During the second world war it was destroyed and at the end of the conflict only one arch was recuperated. Nowadays it still stands in its original place.
