Cattedrale di Santa Colomba

The Cattedrale di Santa Colomba was built close to the Roman walls in the heart of the city of Rimini.

Over the years it has undergone many modifications. However, the excavations carried out in the 90's bought to the light a beautiful marble capital decorated with bas-reliefs.

In the past the church was dedicated to the Holy Spirit and to the young spanish woman who died a martyr in Sens, France, and whose remains ended up in Rimini on board a shipwreck. It also hosted the seat of the Municipality Parliament. In 1815 the church was knocked down and nowadays there is nothing left but the belfry and some tracess conserved there, in the Tempio Malatestiano, and in the City Museum.
