The Stadio Olimpico is an important sports stadium in Rome and is second in Italy only to the Stadio Meazza in Milan.

Nowadays it can officially host 82,922 spectators.

It was constructed close to the Foro Italico and is a structure destined to football and athletics.

Over time it has undergone three great changes like that during the fascist period when it hosted the fascist parade during the visit of Adolf Hitler in May 1938.

In 1953 there was a further reconstruction of the Hundred Thousand Stadium which takes its name from the capacity of the stadium of about 100,000 people.

During the Olympics in 1960, the Stadio Olimpico was the site of the opening and closing ceremonies, and it also hosted the World Athletics in 1987.

For the World Cup in Italy in 1990, it was demolished and reconstructed in reinforced concrete.

The Olimpico hosted various games during the World Cup, amongst which the final betwen West Germany and Argentina.
