Church of San Barnaba
Home > Lombardy > Milan > Milan > Church of San BarnabaChurch of San Barnaba is a single-nave church topped by a barrel vault and containing a square-shaped presbitery.
It was built in 1558 thanks to the San Paolo priests, and it is useful to know that Galeazzo Alessi collaborated in the design of the building. He bought important architectural novelties to the project which were hence used as a model for many other churches: the presbitery on a platform with respect to the nave, for example. On the inside there are some Lombard-school opera's conserved which date back to the 1500-1700's like a painting in one of the Chapels which shows the "Stigmata of Saint Francis" by Giovanni Paolo Lo Mazzo.
