Milan Porta Garibaldi Station
Home > Lombardy > Milan > Milan > Milan Porta Garibaldi Station
Second for overall traffic, but first for commuters, the station of Milano Porta Garibaldi annually hosts an average of 25 million passengers on 20 platforms.
Since its restoration in 2006, it has become an avant-guard reality equipped with all the comforts of a big station amongst which shops and commercial areas of recent construction, bars, newspaper shops, and all the normal commodities which one finds in a railway station.
Noteworthy is the skylight, or light well, an opening which allows the light to illuminate the basement floor from which one can reach the higher floors through the use of five levels of escalators, stairways, and an evocative glass lift.
The station is connected to the main Italian cities and the Milan urban transport line; in fact it hosts an underground station and is a main stop for busses.
Over the station rise two skyscapers which are the seats of the Regional Direction of both Trenitalia and Ferrovie dello Stato.
