Home > Lazio > Rome > Rome > Villa Borghese

The Villa Borghese represents the perfect balance between building and nature.

It is a vast, English-style, naturalistic garden situated in Rome and is rich in buildings, museums, and attractions.

It was built for want of Cardinal Scipione Borghese in 1605.

Its gardens remained open to the public for a long time and in 1901 it was acquired by the State. There are 9 entrances and numerous villa's within the gardens.

The Porta Pinciana entrance offers one of the most spectacular views of Rome. The villa itself was built by the famous artist Flaminio Ponzio and nowadays hosts the Galleria Borghese.

The villa also hosts a Bio-park and the Zoological Museum.
